Wildly, Chance

Shifting Geography: i traveled a lot this past year
I went to California with my class at school to spend a week in Yosemite
I went to Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland to help host Discovery Channel’s
      Young Scientist Challenge
I went to Arizona to climb mountains and see you for Thanksgiving
I went to New Mexico for a Christmas ski road-trip with Jordan, Nick and Josh
I went to Florida during spring break to tape a conservation video at Busch Gardens
I went to Georgia for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
I also went to Austin to accept an amazing award from the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality, which is commissioned by Governor Perry.

Through all of that I figure I presented live animal demonstrations for about 1200 kids in my city.

This past Summer:
I wrote and gave 5 wildlife presentations and graduation speeches
I took a motorcycle safety course
    Got my Driver’s license
    Rebuilt this website
Helped out at the Bamberger Ranch Summer Camp
Lab assisted for an advanced mammalian anatomy class
Finished my Science Fair research plan for 2008/2009 school year
Started my shark research at the wet labs
Read 4 books and wrote 12 papers for school
Did all of my SeaTrek research, scuba and sailing reading and workbooks
Aaand wrecked my scooter and got a concussion (sorry grandma)
Insurance replaced my scooter (sorry grandma)

If you have read this site you know I went to the British Virgin Islands where we helped with a sea turtle research project, sailed, scuba dived and re-connected with a lot of old friends. Epic.

Current:

I got back to Texas 2 days after the school year started. I’m super busy with classes and my shark research.

Things have been harder this year- My classes take a lot more time after school. My research this year is much more complex and time consuming. I decided not to do the Fall play in theatre because of my time constraints, which was a drag. One of my friends at school passed away unexpectedly and I had another accident on my scooter (it’s in the shop...sorry grandma) These have been the challenges.

But things are good too. I’m getting a lot of science done (outreach stuff). I have a lot of programs scheduled for this fall and I’ve already done some really fun ones. I love my classes at school- especially AP Biology. I like what I’m doing at the wet labs (there have been some twists and turns to it, but it’s still really good) and I’m really looking forward to next summer with SeaTrek when we are going to dive with a shark cage, visit a shark lab in Bimini and maaaybe dive one of the NOAA bouys at the Tongue of the Ocean. Just having that to look forward puts everything in perspective.

There are some other things too, but they are not for sure yet. I’ll update you when i know more.

wildly,

Chance I decided I needed a quick place to put stuff up as it happens through the school year. It takes an hour to load this site, so having just a single page to load up will help my grandparents keep up with my crazy life :-] (This will be boring if you’re not one of my Grandparents)

This last year was busy. It was all good stuff but there was so much, I’m not gonna lie. It was a challenge. This year will be even harder.
